Oscars Recap: Red Carpet Dos
Red carpet events are a religion to me. Of course, the mac daddy of them all goes to the Oscars. I began live-tweeting my hits and misses at 6:11 PM and didn’t stop until I actually fell asleep at 10:45 PM. (by the way, in case you missed them: http://www.twitter.com/lbcfashion)
I won’t waste your time with the misses, and only bring to you my biggest hits. I was blown away with the shades of green during the Emmy’s, and last night it was all about purples and reds. Jennifer Lawrence looked like perfection in her Calvin Klein red number. She looked youthful (after all, she is only 20 years old!) and radiant. Most ornate gown award goes to Cate Blanchett in Givenchy. This one was a work of art, in springtime colors and intricate detailing. I am a sucker for an open back and this one called for it. Speaking of open backs, I loved Scarlett Johansson’s Dolce & Gabbana raspberry lace gown. Some said it wasn’t “special” enough for the Oscar’s, and Kelly Osbourne was hung up on whether it appeared transparent (neither true!). Either way, I thought Scar Jo killed it. When Mila Kunis first got out of her car to walk the carpet my jaw was gaping. The color was soft and the silhoutte of her Elie Saab gown was both whimsical and sexy. Kudos to MK.
And that leaves my #1 look of the evening–Gwyneth Paltrow in Calvin Klein. The material appeared to be dripping off of her svelte figure–a true gilded goddess. The Louis Vuitton jewels perfectly complimented the gown, along with her stick straight platinum locks.
On that note, best hairstyles went to Gwyneth (sleek and simple, fab dye job) and Scarlett (great tousled bob). I’m confused whether to chop my locks again or dye my hair blonde. Hey, maybe I’ll do both!
