Haute Event: Sixth Annual Salzman Manus Valentine’s Day Ball Benefiting Stanford Cancer Center
On Saturday, Feb. 5, 2010, philanthropists Jilian Manus and Alan Salzman hosted their sixth annual Valentine’s Day Ball. Since its inception, the event has generated close to $1.5 million. Since every aspect of the event is underwritten and paid for by Manus and Salzman, 100% of proceeds from the event directly benefit the Stanford Cancer Center. The glamorous black-tie event consisting of a cocktail reception, dinner, and dancing gala took place at the hosts’ Atherton, CA residence.
Event producer and designer Robert Fountain partnered with the charitable duo once again to create the theme of the evening – “Channeling Love.” Each room in the house had a nostalgic iconic TV show as its individual theme. Classic shows included in this year’s theme included The Addams Family, All in the Family, Beverly Hillbillies, CHIPS, Fantasy Island, Gilligan’s Island, I Dream of Jeannie, I Love Lucy, Laverne & Shirley, The Newlywed Game, The Partridge Family, Saturday Night Live, and Twilight Zone. McCall & Associates provided exquisite gourmet hors d’oeuvres, dinner, and dessert alongside wine sponsored by Gemstone Vineyard. All décor, food, beverages stayed true to the theme and character actors in full era costume and vintage make-up role-played and entertained guests.
