So Mr. President, How Was Dinner?

News | November 26, 2009

Last night was the State Dinner at the White House, and while master chef Marcus Samuelsson certainly wowed the crowd’s with his cooking, it was First Lady Michelle Obama that had everyone’s attention. Again.

Commander in Chief Barack Obama and his elegant wife, First Lady Michelle, held the State Dinner at the White House last night and it was a successful evening any way you look at it.

As we recently reported, famed chef Marcus Samuelsson was cordially invited to be the honorable chef for the evening, meaning every guest was pretty much guaranteed to leave the White House full and happy. Noteworthy guests included Katie Couric, Steven Spielberg, and M. Night Shyamalan who all joined the first family in welcoming Indian Prime Minster, Manmohan Singh, and his wife, Gursharan Kaur.

Michelle Obama is no amateur when it comes to wooing crowds, and last night was no exception. The First Lady wore a strapless gown by Indian-American designer Naeem Khan that was decorated with sterling silver sequins in a floral pattern on a nude silk chiffon dress. According to reports, it took three weeks of work by an incredible 40 individuals to create the show-stopping dress. The First Lady accessorized with drop earrings and gold and diamond bangle bracelet. All in a night’s work.
