MOCA’s Happening Has Got It Going On

On Saturday, Nov. 13, art patrons, L.A. doyennes, artists came out to celebrate MOCA at The Artist’s Museum Happening designed by artist Doug Aitken.

“Happenings” came into prominence in the ’60s — aka the era of free love, new music and good vibes. These days, it’s sort of the same thing — though more often than not, without the free love. Now it is based on an art related performance without a linear narrative. Sure, things are planned and organized — how could you not when you have the likes of Beck & Devandra Bernhardt performing for such a large and star-studded audience?

The night was warm and so was the crowd. A real melange of art lovers came out to experience the latest MOCA had to offer, including Eli Broad, Frank Gehry, John Baldessari, Jeff Koons, Gwen Stefani and Mila Kunis. But next to the art, the two biggest stunners? Malin Ackerman — who was resplendent in a Ralph Lauren cream number — and the always perfect, Devon Aoki.
