Jonathan Anderson Taps Into ‘Radical Reduction’ For The Loewe Spring/Summer 2025 Collection

Jonathan Anderson proves artwork and fashion go hand in hand with the Loewe Spring/Summer 2025 collection. Presenting a visually stunning collection with an emphasis on movement and structure, Anderson poses the questions, “What happens when one takes all the noise away? Is it possible to fill an empty white room, commanding attention, without shouting for space?” Set within a vast, colossal space of the Château de Vincennes in Paris, the setting was kept bare except for a single bird sculpture; this set the tone for the backdrop where Anderson would showcase his response.

“This collection answers such questions through radical reduction. Stripping everything away, the silhouette remains: bending, bouncing, flowing in curves, long or crudely cropped, moving sideways and away from the body, like falling in and out of a dream,” says Anderson.

The wearable artwork is grounded through boat shoes, elongated oxfords, and high-top Ballet Runners. As for accessories, a light and supple trapezoid-shaped bag named after the house’s home city makes its debut – the Madrid, while the house also revamped its iconic Puzzle bag with fresh iterations for the new season.

Loewe invites its wearers to second guess each piece’s abundance of movement, with ever-flowing dresses, tailoring that’s reduced to a curvaceous flow, and draping that moves in circles. Anderson counters the strict grandess of looping dresses and skirts with the everydayness of a T-shirt paired with slim trousers.

Paying homage to the Creative Director’s signature sense of innovation, abstract flowers bloom and float mid-air as the models glide down the runway. The focus on line highlights the house’s meticulous construction engineering, featuring exceptional boning and wiring that allows the pieces’ shapes to expand and protrude. These rigorous outlines bring prominence to the surface through Impressionist flowers on delicate silks, feathers bringing to life paintings by Mozart, Bach, Chopin, and Mane, mother-of-pearl shells, all-over sequins on knits, and soft nappa leathers.
