Italian luxury fashion house Gucci has released its latest campaign celebrating the timeless journey of its signature Horsebit 1953, starring Italian actor, screenwriter, and director Pietro Castellitto. Conceived by house Creative Director Sabato De Sarno, the new campaign follows Castellitto’s personal interpretation of the Horsebit, similar to the campaign’s previous leads, Paul Mescal, house ambassador Xiao Zhan, and Kinglsey Ben-Adir, each who added their own touch to the shoe. Each campaign reflects Gucci’s ever-evolving vision of modern masculinity, embracing personality, originality, and contemporary elegance.

The campaign features an array of contemporary visuals showcasing Castellitto in a creative space, sitting amongst books, art, and music, capturing the star’s relaxed spirit. He seamlessly presents a range of casual to refined looks, each grounded by the iconic Horsebit 1953 loafer. Serving as a constant throughout, with its emblematic hardware, the shoe further proves itself essential to De Sarno’s menswear wardrobe.

The legendary shoe has been worn by legendary figures alike, from Francis Ford Coppola to Jodie Foster to Gucci ambassadors such as Dakota Johnson, Kirsten Dunst, and Mark Ronson — and now Pietro Castellitto. Beloved for a reason, the Horsebit 1953 has proven to transcend times and trends as it was first introduced in its eponymous year when the house launched footwear. This shoe offered a new idea of elegance, with it being sporty, casual, and sensual all at once. Its double ring and bar, inspired by the equestrian world, have remained a defining motif for the brand to this day.
