Clase Azul México Unveils The Edición Limitada Música For Día de Muertos
Clase Azul México, the prestigious Mexican luxury brand renowned for its exceptional spirits, has announced the release of its Clase Azul Tequila Día de Muertos Edición Limitada Música, the fourth installment in the Nuestros Recuerdos (“Our Memories”) collection. This limited-edition tequila will be available starting October 20 and continues the series, which first launched in 2021, honoring the rich traditions of Mexico’s Día de Muertos.
For many, music often brings feelings of nostalgia and remembrance. Thus, the Edición Limitada Música release pays tribute to the vibrant sounds that define the Día de Muertos festival, which takes place annually on the first two days of November. This iconic holiday honors the memories of departed loved ones, with music playing a central role in its celebrations. Musicians across Mexico gather with joyful melodies played on drums, trumpets, guitars, and accordions, honoring life through the power of sound.

With just 10,000 decanters produced, the Edición Limitada Música symbolizes the festival’s musical essence and Clase Azul’s dedication to preserving Mexican culture. The Nuestros Recuerdos collection has previously celebrated the flavors (Sabores, 2021), colors (Colores, 2022), and aromas (Aromas, 2023) of Día de Muertos, making this year’s musical theme a fitting continuation of this cultural homage.
The limited-edition tequila is a masterpiece of craftsmanship, featuring an añejo tequila that has undergone a unique 26-month aging process. Master Distiller Viridiana Tinoco aged the spirit in American whiskey casks before splitting it into two batches—one finished in Scotch whisky casks from the Isle of Skye and the other in casks from the Speyside region.

The two batches were then blended to create a tequila with remarkable depth and complexity. The result is a spirit with a rich aromatic profile of honey, peat smoke, nutmeg, and dried plum, complemented by flavors of cinnamon, chocolate, and a smoky finish. The smoky undertones derive from the Scotch whisky casks, particularly from the traditional use of burning peat to dry malted barley in the Isle of Skye.

Each Clase Azul Tequila Día de Muertos Edición Limitada Música bottle is housed in a striking plum-colored decanter designed to evoke the calming and rhythmic melodies of the holiday. The back of the decanter showcases an intricate illustration by renowned Mexican artist David Espinosa, also known as “el Dee,” depicting a lively, skeletal ensemble of musicians playing trumpets, drums, tambourines, and bandolones, all in golden and lilac hues.

On the top of the decanter is an intricate ornament shaped like a Catrina, a beloved figure in Mexican culture. The ornament, made with 24-karat gold and patina finish, depicts a skeleton joyfully playing an accordion, its limbs moving as if in rhythm to the music. This stunning piece was created by the artisans at Milagros de Latón in Jalisco, requiring over a week of careful hand assembly, with each ornament composed of 40 individual parts cast from 10 separate molds.
