Say “Oui” To Hotel Barrière Fouquet’s New York
Hotel Barrière Fouquet’s New York has finally emerged, and with it, has brought a refined Parisian panache to TriBeCa.

The eight-story hotel is beautiful: as designed with his typical focus on textures and colors, world-renowned designer Martin Brudnizki has crafted each of the 97 rooms and common spaces with an Art Deco aesthetic, shades of luxurious lavender are found throughout. A Paris-meets-New York vibe is also highlighted in the custom wallpaper lining each guest room: a lavender Toile de Jouy (created by Schumacher Hospitality) printed with scenes from TriBeCa — women carrying Birkin bags, a pigeon clutching a croissant in its beak, and more.

The hotel’s piece de resistance is its Le Grand Appartement Terrasse. Set over two floors on the 7th and 8th levels, Located on the 7th and 8th it contains a large office, entertaining and dining areas, two large terraces, a master suite with its own private terrace, and an additional kingsize
bedroom. The color scheme of the Presidential Suite differs from its standard rooms, focusing on soft greens, blues, and golds. The furniture, however, flows with that aforementioned Art Deco style in its lacquered walls, high-gloss wood paneling, and mirrored niches and wall coverings. Burr walnut, gold leaf, antiqued mirrors, and plush fabrics add to the sense of cosseted elegance. [To note: suites feature bathtubs; standard rooms do not.]

Like its global properties, its dining outlets are French perfection. Fine dining is on the table at Fouquet’s New York, a restaurant from three-Michelin-starred Chef Pierre Gagnaire (who oversees all of the Fouquet’s restaurants in the brand’s portfolio), which offers a classic menu of Parisian brasserie fare, including dishes like steak tartare, escargot, foie gras, sole meunière, and French onion soup, all slightly tweaked for its American location.

Then there’s the “secret” Titsou Bar, hidden behind a bookcase in the lobby. The bar is an homage to the group’s founder Lucien Barrière (whose daughter Diane affectionately called him Titsou), and draws inspiration from Bar Marta, the famed speakeasy at Hotel Barrière Fouquet’s Paris. The vibe is intimate and sexy, evoking Paris of the 1920s and ‘30s, with a creative cocktail menu and a selection of small bites.

There is also the more casual Par Ici Café, the hotel’s vegetable-focused café located in an enclosed glass courtyard. It has an elegant, drawing room feel, featuring woven cane bistro chairs and potted palms, flanked by Tribeca’s ubiquitous red-brick façades.

Further indulgences can be found at Spa Diane Barrière, named for Diane Barrière-Desseigne (chairman of the family-owned Groupe Barrière until her passing in 2001). Spa Diane Barrière offers a complete menu of rituals and signature treatments focused on well-being and a holistic approach to wellness, featuring high-end and results-driven skincare brands like Biologique Recherche. The spa has five treatment rooms (including one for couples), a sauna, hammam, men’s and women’s changing rooms, a pool, and a fitness center courtesy of the trendy DOGPOUND.

Last but not least, there is a private cinema on site, much like its iconic Cannes property. It’s an important feature of the New York property as well, and will no doubt host a slew of private, celebrity-attended film screenings in the future thanks to opulent touches like a gold-leaf ceiling, upholstered walls, a green Art Deco–patterned carpet, and plush seating in shades of gold and green.
