As of this month, the picture-perfect Resort at Pelican Hill on the Newport coast is offering a series of new wellness retreats. These personal programs balance a variety of spa treatments, fitness classes, mindful dining, transformational coaching, inspiring activities and necessary leisure time to enjoy the 23,000-square-foot Spa’s Acqua Colonnades and the 504-acre Resort’s expansive Italian-inspired grounds. Featured fitness activities include a guided walk along Crystal Cove Beach and Sunrise Yoga overlooking the Pacific Ocean; Paddle Board Yoga and Fitmat Aqua classes in the Resort’s Coliseum Pool (one of the world’s largest circular pools); Art of Aromatherapy Essential Oil Blending; and spa treatments like a 100-minute Zen Awakening Experience.

Nobu Ryokan Malibu

Guests visiting the uber-private and super luxurious Nobu Ryokan Malibu are treated, naturally, to a VIP wellness service as well (because what else could you expect from a hotel where Nobu Matsuhisa‘s haute cuisine is on the room service menu?). Wellness services are offered courtesy of Malibu Fit Concierge, who create a customized program for your stay, be it paddle-boarding, surfing or fitness classes on the beach. The glam new eco-hotel has a partnership with Performix House, a members-only fitness studio based in Manhattan with the world’s top personal trainers, to create a state-of-the-art gym and provide their exclusive training services, as well as classes with Natalia Grace, a former ballerina and movement specialist; rehab specialist Dr. Craig, who’s worked with the Los Angeles Clippers and Seattle Seahawks; and Dean Burrell, a boxing instructor. Then, there’s 1 Kitchen by Chris Crary, where the executive chef of “Top Chef” fame serves up fresh, local, and sustainably sourced farm-to-table Southern California cuisine, utilizing a 100% organic garden and beehive; a number of zero-waste dishes spotlight the restaurant’s commitment to preserving the beauty and bounty of nature.

 The private enclave that is the Langham Huntington had a partnership with the world-renowned Tao of Wellness Pasadena acupuncture center, one of the oldest Traditional Chinese Medicine health centers in the U.S., in the past, so this stunning destination has always had health and wellness in mind. Currently, the Pasadena property is partnering with local businesses for specialty seminars, including a Pure Pilates seminar in August and a NamaSpa Day with CorePower Yoga once a month.

Guests of the Four Seasons Westlake Village can get even healthier now thanks to its on-site California Health & Longevity Institute. This state-of- the-art medical facility includes a full cardiovascular fitness center, imaging center, and on-site CLIA certified laboratory. The cardio fitness center utilizes advanced technologies (GE Vivid 9 ECHO and VO2) for the evaluation of heart health and fitness testing, while the imaging center redefines 21st century medical imaging with its luxury destination, professional expertise and modern including a 64 slice CT, 3T MRI and body ultrasound; digital mammography; and bone density. That being said, health and wellness focused guests don’t need to go for such hardcore options—there’s a wellness package that includes healthy meals; daily guided meditation; and a choice of wellness services such as a body composition analysis, target heart rate assessment and metabolism assessment. There’s also a virtual fitness program that will connect you with an exercise physiologist, who will give you weekly customized workouts straight to your Smartphone.
