Mark your calendars for one of the best parties of the year, as the Sixth Annual Pérez Art Museum Miami’s “Art + Soul” returns to the Magic City for an evening in celebration of the museum’s Fund for African American Art. The event will take place on February 9th, 2019.
The PAMM Fund for African American Art has been a rapidly growing initiative for the museum since being implemented through the $1 million grant, funded equally by Jorge M. Pérez and the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. The fund is dedicated to growing PAMM’s collection with works by African Artists.

Through the fund, the museum first debuted thought-provoking works by talented African American artists including Al Loving, Faith Ringgold and Xaviera Simmons. These pieces joined other significant PAMM collection objects by artists such as Leonardo Drew, Sam Gilliam, Rashid Johnson, Lorna Simpson, James Van Der Zee, Carrie Mae Weems, Kehinde Wiley and Purvis Young, amassing a culturally-relevant, unique collection as a whole.
The elegant affair will begin at 6:15 p.m. with a cocktail reception and seated dinner under the stars with a decadent menu prepared by chef Amaris Jones. Following dinner, guests will be treated to a Champagne toast for the grand reveal, where the lively program will unveil the Ambassadors for African American Art’s most recent acquisition of works. And finally, the celebration will ensue, featuring live entertainment by Jillionaire and A.Randolph and the Smash Room Project, as well as gourmet canapes, and plenty of dancing under the stars.
