Young, Wild & Free: Haute Living’s Exclusive Dior Cruise 2019 Collaboration
For the woman who wants to make her mark in the world, in comes the Dior Cruise 2019 Collection. Designed by the House’s first female artistic director, Maria Grazia Chiuri, she drew inspiration from the escaramuzas—traditional Mexican female horse riders—who participate in the charreada—Mexico’s version of an equestrian performance, showcasing impressive and challenging routines to the crowd. Using rich materials, such as toile de Jouy, lace, knits, tulle and Japanese cotton, the collection emphasizes the intersection of two worlds, both equally important in the world of Dior: deep-rooted tradition and liberating freedom. The heroine wears full skirts with waist-cinching belts and fitted jackets, which exude her femininity and her strength simultaneously. The iconic Dior Saddle Bag reappears in the story, serving as the perfect accessory for the heroine along with her chic and practical combat boots, allowing her to blaze a trail forward for the next generation to come, rather than stand still and wait for someone else to do so. While remembering the legacy of those that came before her and embracing the possibilities of her bright and bold future, she is not a rule-breaker; rather, she is a rule-maker. She is young, wild and free. She is the Dior Woman.
