Why is Race to Erase MS such an important event?

For 25 years Nancy Davis has raised over 47 million dollars to go towards the eradication of this painful disease which has affected so many people.

Is the cause personal to you? How if so?

I grew up a huge Richard Pryor fan and when I learned that he suffered from MS, I was truly moved.

How did you become involved in this year’s gala?

Jeff Epstein reached out to my management and advised of the opportunity. I was in San Diego performing so I agreed to stay with my band to entertain everyone in support of this great cause.

Is philanthropy an important part of your life? How specifically?

Absolutely, I believe that to whom much is given, much is required. I started my own 501(c)(3) Big Dreams for Kids which services primarily the youth of South Florida but we have outreached underserved communities in Los Angeles, Texas and Georgia. Included in Big Dreams is a football league with over 10,000 kids the FYFL; Future Leaders which consist of youth with at least a 4.0 grade point average that we constantly expose to positive leaders the community as well as teach leadership skills; Strong Arm Elite Track Club, The Gospel Explosion and Back to School.

What are your favorite places to hang out while you’re in LA?

Runyon Canyon, the juice bars, 1OAK and the studio.

How would you describe yourself in a phrase?

Life of the Party

What to you is the greatest luxury in life?

Good health.
