Oprah Winfrey Matches Amal And George Clooney’s $500,000 Donation

Oprah Winfrey donated $500,000 to the “March For Our Lives” rally.

Winfrey is following in the footsteps of lawyer and activist Amal Clooney and actor-director George Clooney.

In a statement, the power couple vowed to support the Parkland, Florida survivors of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.

“Amal and I are so inspired by the courage and eloquence of these young men and women from Stoneman Douglas High School. Our family will be there on March 24 to stand side by side with this incredible generation of young people from all over the country, and in the name of our children Ella and Alexander, we’re donating $500,000 to help pay for this groundbreaking event. Our children’s lives depend on it,” said Clooney.

Via Twitter, Winfrey went on to commend the couple’s efforts and vowed to match their generous donation.

George and Amal, I couldn’t agree with you more. I am joining forces with you and will match your $500,000 donation to ‘March For Our Lives.’ These inspiring young people remind me of the Freedom Riders of the 60s who also said we’ve had ENOUGH and our voices will be heard.

“George and Amal, I couldn’t agree with you more. I am joining forces with you and will match your $500,000 donation to ‘March For Our Lives.’ These inspiring young people remind me of the Freedom Riders of the 60s who also said we’ve had ENOUGH and our voices will be heard,” said Winfrey.

The latest force to support the upcoming rally against gun control is Gucci and its creative director Alessandro Michele.

“I am truly moved by the courage of these students. My love is with them and it will be next to them on March 24. I am standing with March for Our Lives and the strong young women and men across the United States who are fighting for their generation and those to come,” said Michele in a statement.

On March 24, the March For Our Lives rally will be led by students and their parents to the streets of Washington DC to demand gun control.
