The Story Of Why Lauren Dern’s Son Turned Down Calvin Klein
Laura Dern from Big Little Lies gave her son Ellery Harper consent but her husband did not.
Harper was invited by the designer of Calvin Klein, Raf Simons, to walk the show but Harper found himself front row instead. In an interview with WWD, she revealed her son’s admiration for Simons and the connection the two share.
“Really I’m attending with Ellery who has a great love of Raf and is an invited guest of Raf — they have a beautiful connection,” said Dern.

Harper was close to making his catwalk debut during New York Fashion Week, but the difference in opinion between the parentals intervened.
“[Raf] originally asked me to walk. But my dad had different opinions,” said Harper.

Dern revealed that her husband wanted Harper to wait a bit more before descending on the runway. She ended the interview sharing her son’s actual interest in fashion: designing.
Harper concluded his day front row at Calvin Klein by posting an image of him alongside another huge Raf Simons fan, rapper A$AP Rocky. “Honored,” said Harper.
