Awards season is in full swing as the best films of the year compete for the gold. The nominations are out for the 2018 Golden Globes.

Leading the pack this year is Guillermo del Toro‘s The Shape of Water, with seven nominations. The film already picked up the Golden Lion after its world premiere in Venice this past fall. The dark fairy tale set during the Cold War stars Sally Hawkins, Octavia Spencer, Michael Shannon and Richard Jenkins.

Seth Meyers will host the Golden Globes next year, which will see all of Hollywood come out to celebrate. Although a number of films touted as Oscar contenders will be competing for Globes, overall they are chosen by a much smaller committee made up of 93 members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. With many categories this year proving to be close races, it remains to be seen how many Golden Globe winners will go on to take Oscar gold.

Competing for best drama motion picture are: Call Me by Your Name, Dunkirk, The Post, The Shape of Water, and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. Competing for best musical or comedy are The Disaster Artist, Get Out, The Greatest Showman, I, Tonya, and Lady Bird.

On the TV side, Big Little Lies leads with six nominations, after already winning eight Emmys. Old standouts like Game of Thrones and Black-ish have scored nominations, as well as newcomers like SMILF and the Will & Grace revival.

Tune in live on January 7 on NBC to see who will go home victorious.
