David LaChapelle unveiled two new books at TASCHEN Beverly Hills in Los Angeles, just in time for the holidays. The American photographer’s new publications Lost + Found and Good News add to his collection of signature high-gloss, high impact coffee table books that make a great gift for any art book collector.
The books are LaChapelle’s first major release in over a decade, the fourth and five works in his anthology. Each volume features hundreds of never before seen photographs, as well as a slew of recent hits from gallery shows around the world.
Lost + Found features his infamous portrait of Miley Cyrus as a butterfly, nude and covered with glitter. The pages read as a who’s who in the celebrity world, with portraits of David Bowie, Naomi Campbell, Hillary Clinton, Frances Bean Cobain, Lana Del Rey, Lady Gaga, Whitney Houston, Kris Jenner, Kendall Jenner, Bruce Jenner, Kylie Jenner, Dwayne Johnson, Khloe Kardashian, Kim Kardashian, Eartha Kitt, Nicki Minaj, Katy Perry, Keith Richards, Rihanna, Chris Rock, Amber Rose, Britney Spears, Uma Thurman, Andy Warhol, Kanye West, Pharrell Williams, Amy Winehouse and many more.
Good News is described as “an illustrated manuscript for the time we live in.” It features LaChapelle’s search for paradise in a series of colorful images that imagine life beyond Earth. Cameos include Janet Jackson, Michael Jackson, Paris Jackson, Elizabeth Taylor and Tupac Shakur.
LaChapelle has kicked off a global book tour, making appearances in major cities to sign books. TASCHEN will also release a limited-edition two-part volume after the holidays. LaChapelle’s work can currently be seen at Beaux-Arts Mons in Belgium through February.
