Brandless Announces Celebrity Investors & Ambassadors
Brandless, a digital market that sells everyday essentials—from organic brownie baking mix to recycled mechanical pencils—for just $3 each, has announced a major lineup of celebrity backers. The company was launched earlier this year by entrepreneurs Ido Leffler and Tina Sharkey (one of the top ten female boss ladies in the Bay Area) with a mission of disrupting the current consumer market place. Leffler and Sharkey believe that no one should have to pay more for healthy, organic, non-GMO products. By removing a brand name and the brandtax associated with this well known name—which is generally a 40% to 370% markup—Brandless is proving that high quality materials and healthy ingredients don’t have to cost a fortune.
Today Brandless has released a list of 22 investors. These influential people have been silently advising the Brandless team and are ready to make their love for Brandless public. The list includes athletes Steph Curry, Nick Swaggy P Young, Anthony Tolliver, and Pat Connaughton, authors Jessica Seinfeld and David Bach, and many founders/CEOs of successful businesses—Zuckerberg Media’s Randi Zuckerberg, Serena & Lily’s Lily Kanter, and Bare Minerals’ Leslie Blodgett, to name a few. “On the court, if everyone touches the ball, good things happen. Out in the world, when we all get involved, we have the power to make good things happen,” Steph Curry said of his support for Brandless. “I’m investing in Brandless to help create good. To help create a future where everyone can afford better.”
David Bach, a nine-time New York Times bestselling author, financial expert, and the co-founder of AE Wealth Management puts it like this: “Every day I teach people how to be smart with their money so they can live rich now. Brandless is a great answer to a richer life. There’s no reason to pay up to five times more for daily products when you can get amazing products from Brandless for just $3. I love their products so much that I consider myself to be a Brandless Brand Ambassador.”
Sharkey shared the news in a Medium post where she pointed out that Brandless also gives back to the community. “We designed Brandless to be a company for profit and purpose, so we underwrite a donation with every single checkout. Caring for our neighbors, our communities, and enabling a better future is more than just a give back program for us. It’s the fiber of the company. It’s our very foundation, our purpose, our potential.”
