Hollywood Actress Joanna Garcia Swisher Believes In Power Of Breakfast
Actress Joanna Garcia Swisher believes wholeheartedly in giving back to the community especially when it has to do with helping children. So, when Smithfield approached the busy actress and mother-of-two about a partnership for No Kid Hungry “Make Breakfast ,Share Breakfast” campaign, it felt like a natural fit.
On Monday, October 2, 2017, actress and mom JoAnna Garcia Swisher joined Smithfield and No Kid Hungry to kick off the campaign at Dunleith Elementary School in Marietta, Georgia, for a “Smithfield Shares Breakfast” local community event. Throughout the event, Garcia Swisher helped provide a nutritious breakfast featuring Smithfield breakfast items and mingled with students as they started their school day. She later joined school administrators for an assembly celebrating the importance of breakfast, noting how students who eat breakfast are likely to achieve 17.5% higher scores on standardized tests, according to a study by No Kid Hungry.Photo Credit: Michael Simon / Startraks
“Growing up, my mom was a teacher so back-to-school season always meant getting back into a routine and having a successful start to the school year. Too often though, kids can’t get the necessary nutrition they need to succeed,” said Garcia Swisher. “Breakfast is the most important meal of the day for me and my family. That’s why I’m excited to partner with Smithfield for its Make Breakfast, Share Breakfast initiative to help ensure all kids have access to the nourishment they need to start their day.”
After the kids went back to class, Haute Living sat down with the red-headed beauty who is known for roles in Astronaut Wives Club and Fist Fight, to talk about her new partnership and to give us the scoop on her family life and brand new ABC TV dramedy Kevin (Probably) Knows Best co starring Jason Ritter.
JoAnna, who is married to former MLB star Nick Swisher, currently resides in Atlanta while filming the show which premiered on Tuesday October 2, 2017. She loves it in Atlanta she gushes and that the whole experience has been a fun adventure for her family, which includes her two little girls. With her husband entering an exciting new phase in his career as an analyst for Fox Sporrts in Los Angeles and her filming taking place in Atlanta, there is a lot of traveling but they make it work she says. “We try to coordinate our schedules so we are never apart for a long period,” she explains. And although her latest project and highly anticipated role with Jason RItter is set to premiere the following day and she has to be back on set within the hour, Garcia Swisher is relaxed and truly focused on the task at hand: to help eradicate childhood hunger. “The Idea that so many children across the country don’t know where their next meal is coming from is truly heartbreaking”, she says.”I love being able to partner with companies, as powerful as Smithfield, that believe in giving back,
So, how can we help JoAnna and provide kids across the country with the most important meal of the day? It’s simple. Buy a Smithfield breakfast product. For every purchase Smithfield will donate one meal to No Kid Hungry. And, to double their donation, consumers can also post a picture of their Smithfield breakfast on social media using the hashtag #BreakfastPower to generate a second donation to No Kid Hungry. The goal is to donate $100,000 to No Kid Hungry in order to supply over one million meals to children across the country.
