The Best Ways to Celebrate National Caviar Day in SF
If you ever needed an excuse to indulge in caviar on a Tuesday, here it is: today is National Caviar Day! The best way to celebrate is at a party with unlimited caviar, champagne, and some beautiful blondes. Do just this at The Caviar Co.’s exclusive party at Wingtip. Hosted by sisters Saskia and Petra Bergstein, the event includes copious amounts of the delightful black balls, bubbles, and premium vodka and whisky. It’s going down tonight from 6 to 8 p.m.
Of course, there are plenty of luxe restaurants with caviar on the menu. Gary Danko is famously known for its sensational caviar service. Choose from Black Sea or Golden Osetra and pair with a glass of Krug Grand Cuvee. 25 Lusk serves caviar bumps and traditional caviar with blinis, red onion, and dill a la carte. At Quince, caviar is a supplemental option to the tasting menu. Diners select either the Tsar Nicoulai caviar with brioche, hollandaise sauce, and rooftop flowers or Golden Osetra caviar with panna cotta.
At Leo’s Oyster Bar in the Financial District, American sturgeon caviar and Golden Osetra caviar is sold by the ounce. It’s accompanied by sieved egg, shallots, chives, creme fraiche, and house-cut chips. Leo’s also has an assortment of caviar bites like salmon roe with salmon tartare and capers or caviar with truffled beet pancakes. Spruce, on Sacramento Street, has an Osetra caviar selection that is served with potato blini, brioche, and creme fraiche. Finally at Farallon, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, diners can select from four different kinds of caviar—Siberian Baerii, Kaluga, Hackleback, or Imperial osetra. Traditional accouterments come with the one ounce servings.
