Haute Secrets: New It Girl and Ferragamo star Rose Gilroy
Is Rose Gilroy fashion’s next It Girl? Could very well be. The recent Colgate graduate has the photogenic looks (she just signed with the Elite Model Agency), the pedigree—her mom is 1970s super-model Rene Russo and her father, Dan Gilroy is a director and Academy-Award nominated screenwriter, and oodles of personal style. Gilroy is making a big splash this week, starring in the launch of Ferragamo’s ready-to-wear e-commerce platform on ferragamo.com The campaign, styled by Meredith Melling and Valerie Macauley of La Marque, highlights the haute bohemian chic of Ferragamo’s fall/winter 2016 collection “There’s a romance and energy linked to Ferragamo that I’m thrilled to be a part of,” says Gilroy. “The rich history, the luxurious materials… or maybe it’s just the beautiful colors that spark a dream of glamorous femininity.” The images below were shot in an ornate West Village townhouse in the West Village by Ungano and Agriodima.
How long have you been in New York? Two months. Finally have a couch in my living room, but still have so much to explore in the city!
Current neighborhood: Chelsea
Occupation: Model
Where do you shop? Some of my favorite go-to brands are The Reformation, Rag & Bone, and obviously, Ferragamo! But I’m always searching for hole-in-the wall shops and love finding unique pieces. New York is great for that!
Favorite non-clothing (design, books, jewelry) stores: I’m an old soul and have great admiration for the art of letter writing, so I’m a sucker for stationery or letterpress stores. My go to spot in LA is Sugar Paper, but in New York I’ve been partial to Greenwich Letterpress.
Favorite places for cosmetics: My favorite skin care spot is The Face Place. They have locations in both New York and Los Angeles and are such life savers! I love their products!
Favorite hair salon: Salon AKS in midtown.
Favorite restaurant for dinner: I cook for myself almost every night, but for a special occasion my favorite restaurants in the city are Carbone, Café Luxembourg and DomoDomo.
Favorite for lunch/brunch: One of my best friends turned me onto the Madison Diner and it’s a great brunch spot that’s also open 24/7. When I’m looking to splurge, Bouchon bakery makes me feel like I’m in Paris!
Favorite charity: My favorite charity in the city is The Wild Bird Fund, a non-profit, wildlife rehabilitation center on the Upper West Side. They’re an incredible organization, which I volunteer for and am so proud to be a part of. If you ever find injured wildlife in the city head to 88th and Columbus, because they offer the best, free care possible for city wildlife! I’ve brought two pigeons and a seagull there!
Night-on-the-town favorites: I love dive bars, where you can get a good drink and have a conversation. Every once in a while though it’s nice to spend time at a classic spot like the Boom Boom Room at the Standard Hotel.
