Shane West knows more than a thing or two about L.A.—he’s been living in Southern California for almost 30 years! Here, our most recent “Man of Style” and star of Salem, which premieres its third season during Halloween week—shares his insider’s guide to the City of Angels.
Where were you born: Baton Rouge, LA #geauxTigers
How long in LA: I’ve been in Southern California since I was in the 5th grade. We started off in Norwalk and moved our way to Los Angeles
Neighborhood: I was up Beachwood for a fantastic 10 years. Now, undecided, currently moving.
Occupation: Actor/musician
Best Sushi: Katsuya (in Studio City), Sugarfish (anywhere)
Best Italian: Bestia, Osteria Mozza, and I dig Dan Tana’s for the classics
Best dessert: The Peanut Butter Chocolate Tart at Forage; It’s – It Ice cream (mint chocolate chip), and I can’t stop eating the Earl Grey Blueberry Fonut from Fonuts.
Best place for a romantic date: I really like Pace. Simple and cozy. The Little Door. Cliff’s Edge patio is wonderful.
Best Sunday brunch: Salt’s Cure (all american breakfast), Square One (migas tacos), The Griddle
If you have out of town guests, which hotel would you recommend? If you can swing the Chateau then that’s the pick. The Charlie is cool. And I usually stick with The Roosevelt.
Favorite shopping venue/boutique: I usually shop online. Big fan of the Feather brand T shirt. I always enjoyed shopping at Confederacy near Umagi
Favorite place to buy jewelry/watches: Once again online….but I love The Giving Keys which is LA based and Miansai.
Best Spa: DeTox Spa off Glen Feliz
Favorite Cultural Event: Cinco De Mayo and Mardi Gras…..the FOOD!
Best Steakhouse: Cut, Pacific Dining Car, and Musso & Frank’s
Best Pizza: Pizzeria Mozza, Vito’s, or the bbq chicken pizza at Oaks Gourmet
Best Lunch: Cheebo, Tender Greens, Lemonade
Best Gym/Athletic Facility: Honestly, I like the simplicity of Planet Fitness. Very family friendly.
Best Massage: Heaven Massage off Ventura Blvd
Describe your city in three words: Dynamic, alive, underrated
Favorite historic/legendary place to see or explore/All-around favorite spot in Los Angeles: The Griffith Observatory, cruising the PCH, Griffith Park, a tour of Warner Brothers or 20th Century Fox, Venice Beach canals, Mann’s Chinese Theater, The Fonda Theatre, Staples Center….countless places….
Best Aspect of Los Angeles: The best aspect of Los Angeles is the cultural diversity. It’s a melting pot of food, people, personalities and style. (And you can’t beat the weather!)
