Where do you go and what do you do if you have 24 hours in El Segundo, a hidden hamlet in Los Angeles’ chilled out South Bay community? Here is a list of seven spots every visitor must know before you go to this sleepy, wonderful place known for its community, proximity to LAX and old-school, old world vibe.

- SAUSAL. El Segundo is an up and coming gastro area, thanks in part to the arrival of Sausal, chef/partner Anne Conness (formerly of Tin Roof Bistro, Water Grill, Campanile and Chinois on Main). The Nuevo Rancho fare, elegant decor and stellar tequila list make this one to beat.

2. EL SEGUNDO BREWING COMPANY. Craft beer is the name of the game here. There are currently 19 kinds of DIPAs and IPAs on tap that are sold throughout Southern California. It’s a great place to spend a summer afternoon.

3. THE POINT. The Point is reminiscent of a Rick Caruso property: it’s airy, ambient and there’s something for everyone, from restaurants to shops to Soulcycle (more on that later). There’s Sugarfina and Pressed Juice, Smitten Ice Cream and Mendocino Farms as well as high-end beauty in the form of Bluemercury and great shopping at Planet Blue. There’s also some seriously great restaurants: Venice hotspot Superba Food + Bread opened its doors here, as did the eco-chic, health-conscious fare True Food Kitchen (which, hallelujah, serves up vegan options) and the superb and low-key Italian eatery, North Italia.

4. ARCLIGHT BEACH CITIES. In L.A., a movie-going experience needs to be a serious affair. Arclight takes the comprehensive experience to another level, offering up a chic bar, stadium seating, gastro-type food (pork belly sliders and poke are on the menu) and valet parking.

5. BELLACURES SOUTH BAY. Chic nail salon Bellacures celebrated its 10th anniversary by opening a 918 square foot flagship at The Point, introducing a new, haute look. On a backdrop of white, grey and “Bellacures” green, sleek metal furniture, industrial lighting and calming greenery will complete the fresh, simple and serene environment. 6. ALOFT EL SEGUNDO—LAX. El Segundo, despite being a charming and lovely area, hasn’t been known for it’s hotel selection…until now. Business travelers who shook their heads at the limited selection are going to herald the arrival of Aloft, SPG’s trendy new sub-brand. This hotel features a pool, free Wi-fi, an on-site gym, its Re:mix lounge, live performances at the W XYZ Bar, pool tables, meeting spaces with plasma TVs and A/V and even doggy beds for your furry friends.

7. SOULCYLE. Soulcycle is a transformative exercise experience. It’s a spin studio that takes things to the next level and has created a nationwide following. Thankfully, this haute center has come to El Segundo. With inspirational instructors, candlelight and music that you can shake your bonbon too, those that try a class will absolutely find themselves transformed—in mind, body and spirit.
