Create Bespoke Luxury Shoes with George Esquivel
If you’re looking for an amazing Father’s Day gift, luxe pair of shoes or just an overall cool luxury experience, you’re going to want to create a customized pair of shoes with designer George Esquivel.
The Orange County-based shoe designer, who has previously collaborated with brands such as Chloe and Tommy Hilfiger and who has also worked at Fratelli Rossetti and as Creative Director for TUMI, offered luxury lovers a chance to customize a pair of shoes at Barneys New York in Beverly Hills on Saturday (though the experience is always on offer in his Buena Park atelier, where he also showcased his Spring/Summer 2016 collaboration with Florsheim, Florsheim x Esquivel, which fuses Florsheim’s traditional feel with Esquivel’s modern aesthetic to create a collection of luxurious suede oxfords for men and women.
Offered in a vibrant pink, blue, grey, and white with turquoise stitching for women; as well as classic black, taupe, earthy beige and white for men, the shoes feature an asymmetric toe medallion of the letters “E” and “F” to symbolize the collaborative spirit, though those who decide to design their own can select their own initials or letters, as well as their own leathers, stitching, thread and underlay.
Each handcrafted pair will then be cut, sewn and designed in Esquivel’s atelier, cobbled one at a time for the ultimate quality. The Sigmund Cap NB is handcrafted with custom pebble-grain leather sourced from Wickett & Craig, established in 1867 and based in Pennsylvania.
Though the end result won’t arrive for several weeks, rest assured that you’ll be walking away (literally) with a pair of completely unique shoes that you can’t and won’t find on anyone else.
Best of, you’ll have the chance to work with a true creative genius: Esquivel was selected as a CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund finalist in 2009 and is currently an active CFDA member.
The Esquivel x Florsheim customized shoes are priced at roughly $800
