Happy National Margarita Day: 7 Margarita Cocktail Recipes to Celebrate in NYC

Happy National Margarita Day. In honor of this momentous holiday, we have tapped the best mixologists in New York City to share their favorite recipes. Whether you want to recreate the delectable cocktails at home or enjoy a night out at the bar, we have you covered.

Mango Habanero Margarita

1 ¾ parts Milagro Silver tequila
¾ parts orange Curaçao liqueur
1 part The Perfect Purée Mango Purée (diluted with equal parts water)
1 part scratch sour mix
2 slices fresh habanero
4 drops Bittermens Hellfire Habanero Shrub Bitters

Instructions: Build in a shaker and add ice. Shake well until chilled. Strain over fresh ice.

Baja Margarita

Baja Margarita
2 parts Sauza Conmemorativo Tequila
1 part Cointreau
2 parts scratch sour mix
½ part lime juice
½ part Grand Marnier

Instructions: Add all ingredients to a shaker except Grand Marnier. Add ice and shake well until chilled. Strain over fresh ice in a glass with a salted rim, and top with Grand Marnier. Garnish with a lime wedge.

Sour Mix From Scratch:
(Recipe makes 1/2 gallon. Can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.)
3 oz. egg whites, pasteurized
2 cups sugar
4 cups water
3 ½ cups fresh lemon juice
¼ cup fresh lime juice
¼ cup fresh orange juice

Instructions: Whisk egg whites in a large bowl until frothy. Stir in the sugar and mix until incorporated. Add water and fresh juices and mix thoroughly.

The Twisted Margarita

A salty, savory “twist” on May’s most popular cocktail, this margarita pays tribute to that classic NYC snack:

2 parts Tres Agaves Blanco Tequila
¾ parts lime juice
½ part triple sec
½ part simple syrup
1 teaspoon mustard powder
Mustard seed and sea salt rim

Instructions: Rim glass with a slice of lime. Roll rim of glass in grounded mustard seed and sea salt mixture. Combine Tres Agaves Blanco Tequila, lime, simple syrup, triple sec and mustard powder into a shaking tin. Fill half way with ice and shake for 10 seconds. Strain over ice in a rimmed rocks glass. Garnish with a lime wheel and serve – ¡Salud!

Sriracharita

1 ½ parts CRUZ Tequila
1 part fresh lime juice
¾ parts Cointreau
¼ part jalapeno infused Tres Agaves agave syrup*
3 dashes Sriracha
Lime wedge for garnish

Blueberry Basil Margarita

2 parts Cruz Silver Tequila
1 part agave nectar
12-15 blueberries
1 lime squeezed
1-2 parts filtered water
A couple sprigs of basil

Instructions: Muddle blueberries and basil with Tequila. Add remaining ingredients. Shake with ice and serve over fresh ice (Do not strain). Garnish with basil leaf float.

Sweet, sour and absolutely delicious. An old favorite gets kicked up a notch with Maker’s Mark Bourbon in the mix.
1 part Maker’s Mark® Bourbon
1 part fresh squeezed lime juice
1 part JDK & Sons™ O3 Premium Orange Liqueur
¾ part Tres Agaves Agave Nectar

Instructions: Fill tall glass with all ingredients. Shake and strain over ice in highball glass. Salted rim is optional.

The NYC Billionaire Margarita

Millionaire margarita

1½ oz Patrón en Lalique Serie 1
1 oz Rémy Martin Louis XIII
½ oz Organic Blue Agave Nectar
½ oz Fresh Organic Key Lime Juice
½ oz Fresh Organic Meyer Lemon Juice
10 Dashes House-Made Cara Cara Sour Bitters

Instructions: Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker and shake with ice to chill. Strain into a chilled cocktail coupe and garnish with a fresh lime wedge.
