This Weekend in Miami: November 14th

Looking for something fun and different to do in South Florida this weekend? We’ve got your back. Check out one of the haute happenings listed below, and make it the best one yet.

8 AM: Capture the Wild

Are you a fan of photography? If so, head to Jungle Island this Saturday to learn from the best. Led by nature photographer, Robert Sullivan, and award-winning Miami Herald photojournalist, Al Diaz, this five-hour, hands-on workshop – appropriately titled Introduction to Nature Photography – will include an engaging lecture; tips on how to use a DSLR and camera phone; a critique of participants’ photos; and a walking photo tour, where guests will have the opportunity to put these new tips into practice. This event will take place at Jungle Island, at 1111 Parrot Jungle Trail. The cost to participate is $69 for annual pass holders, and $89 per person for regular admission. Taxes and fees not included.

9 AM: The Color Run™

Considered the “happiest 5K on the planet,” The Color Run™ is back in the Magic City, and it’s bigger and better than ever. What can participants expect? Well, being doused in explosions of color, for one. Plus, now in its 4th year, the 2015 installment will include an all-new “Sparkle Zone™” – where runners can stop and take colorful photographs at different spots throughout the course – as well as a fun-filled Finish Festival, a celebratory event with music, dancing, massive color throws, new confetti cannons, shimmery clouds of color, sparkle, and much more. Sun Life Stadium is located at 347 Don Shula Drive. Registration is open for individual runners and teams.

7 PM: DASH “Taste of Design”

This Saturday, celebrate art and entertainment with Design and Architecture Senior High (DASH) at the award-winning school’s 8th Annual “Taste of Design” gala. Following the theme “Art Starts Here,” this event will be an evening of art, music, fashion, film, a silent auction, and a dazzling array of epicurean delights by some of the Magic City’s top chefs. And to kick it off, VIPs can head to a special reception at Palm Court, in the Design District, where they’ll be able to munch on bites from Michael Schwartz’s Ella, Buena Vista Deli, Divieto, Panther Coffee, CrepeMaker, Delectable by Design, Enchanting Creations, Soyka, Lisboa Grill, Pieducks and more.
