Eat, Drink and Travel Through Time at Miami’s “Wine On Harvest Moon”

If you’re looking for something fun and different to do this Saturday night, look no further than one of Miami’s top residential neighborhoods: Palmetto Bay. Taking place at Deering Estate, under the glow of the harvest moon, Deering Estate Foundation’s annual wine-and-dine fundraiser — “Wine On Harvest Moon” — invites Miami’s finest to travel through time as they taste their way through America’s best wine and spirit regions; all helmed by some of Miami’s hottest chefs and sommeliers.

Building on the success of last year’s event, this weekend’s evening of Spirits, Spells & American Lore promises a Saturday-night soiree that’s a feast for all the senses. Featuring a collection of food stations — each paired with a particular region, drink and corresponding scene from popular American folklore (think “Sleepy Hollow,” Edgar Allen Poe’s New England, the Jazz era, and a Mark Twain-themed southern saloon with a bourbon bar, dance floor and country music classics, to name a few) — attendees will take a coast-to-coast journey that’s as posh as it is historic. Add that to live music, pop-up theater vignettes, an auction, contemporary American art exhibits and inspired decor everywhere you turn, and you can expect that this enchanting evening will be more than the typical food-and-wine affair. Putting guests right in the heart of America’s most celebrated literary tales, it’s an escape from modern-day Miami in more ways than one: mind, body, (taste buds) and soul.

And speaking of tastes, this year’s participating restaurants, chefs and sommeliers won’t disappoint. On the list? Everything from top Palmetto Bay haunts — like Golden Rule, Brio Tuscan Grille, and Asian Fusion — to some of Miami’s trendiest locales: like Station 5 Miami, The Local Craft Food & Drink, Bulla Gastrobar, Devon Seafood + Steak, The Biltmore Hotel, Pisco Y Nazca and more. And since Wine On Harvest Moon wouldn’t be complete without, you guessed it, wine, those planning to attend can expect to sip on vintages like Frances Ford Coppola’s Vendetta Cabernet Sauvignon, Valley of The Moon Pinot Blanc, Merlot Devil by Charles Smith, Boneshaker Zinfandel by Hahn Family Vineyards, Freakshow Cabernet Sauvignon, and Blanc de Bleu sparkling wine, the last of which will be part of a mysterious “foggy potion” station.
