Dubai Chef Talk: Tom Aikens Of Pots, Pans And Boards
Chef Aikens is one of the youngest chefs to have earned a Michelin star. However, that is no surprise seeing that at only at the age of 26, he had already entered the culinary arena with his tenure at Pied a Terre, which obviously did not end well, as he was dismissed. Although some in the “foodie global cohort” believe that this was a tragic situation, it might have been for the very best due to the delightful consequences: the full emergence of Chef Aiken’s iconic talent, which began to bloom shortly after this point.

This is when we began to experience his refined gift of the art of all that is intertwined with skills in the kitchen. He now has cookbooks and the attention of the media and has begun several successful restaurants in the United Kingdom.
This fall is no exception to his generosity to share his less than pretentious style of robust and cozy meals at his new venture here in Dubai. Named in the true essence of relaxed dining, Pots, Pans and Boards has launched at The Beach, within the JBR. From the name, one can predict that the menu will be tailored to accommodate these universal tools that we’re all familiar with in the kitchen. Everything on his mouthwatering menu will be served in pots, pans and boards.

The burgers here will mock the traditional beef burger trend with choices such as oxtail, lobster, lamb, and other burger surprises. In addition, the merging of Middle Eastern and Western palates, such as in the sticky toffee pudding served with a splendid date ice cream, is enough to gratify the diverse demographics.
When Tom Aiken was planning his launch here in Dubai, he wanted to create something that was “casual and laid-back. The trend is definitely moving away from fine dining. People want to come out and have relaxed, informal, all-day dining experience,” he said in an interview.

The “family style” ambiance is refined and sophisticated, however, diners also feel a sense of coziness that occurs when dining with old friends. With the array of communal-sized tables, making new friends is also possible when dining at Pots, Pans and Boards.

Tom Aiken shares the foundation of his philosophy for his latest venture here in Dubai by adding, “What we’ve created here is very unique. I like a restaurant to be fun, where people can feel at ease. Once you get that magic, then people will come. Good food, good service and great fun. You get those three things right and everyone’s going to have a really great time.”
Chef Aiken’s global essence now spans beyond the United Kingdom with locations in Hong Kong, Istanbul, and here in Dubai, which we’re thrilled about.
