Haute 100 SF: Daniel Ek’s Spotify to Become Available on Google’s Chromecast

Right in time for Advertising Week, which commenced Sept. 28^th, music streaming service Spotify announced it will soon be available on Google’s Chromecast connected-TV device.

To listen to music on Chromecast, music lovers simply plug in and cast music directly from your phone or tablet. Play, skip, browse and search using the Spotify app. An essential plus, as stated in the press release, “feel free to make calls, watch a video or play games – the music will keep playing. Even if your battery runs out.”

The digital music service has now made it easier to alternate devices. Listeners will be able to control where he or she wants to stream music via his or her mobile device. Simply tap the available devices that are connected to the Spotify app and the music will instantly play.

“Whether it’s a PlayStation, Smart TV, or Bluetooth speaker, simply select it from your phone and start rocking to your favorite tunes. Heading out for a run, or just moving into the kitchen? No problem. Switching between devices is seamless, ensuring you never miss a beat,” the company said.

By becoming available via Google’s streaming media player and partnering with PlayStation, Spotify hopes to win over music lovers’ hearts and minds as well as become their go-to when it comes to streaming music.

Spotify will become available over the next few weeks, no specific date was released.

In addition, Seth Farbman, Spotify CMO, alongside Simon Fleming-Wood, Pandora CMO, hosted a panel during Advertising Week. The two discussed the importance of knowing who your audience is, where and how they connect with your brand, and how to leverage the power of music to captivate the attention of the fans of the future.

While Spotify top executives hosted a panel, the streaming service founder and CEO Daniel Ek hosted a fireside chat at IAB MIXX Conference, the annual kickoff of Advertising Week.
