Haute 100 Update MIA: Emilio Estefan to Be Honored at the Latin Songwriters Hall of Fame

Grammy award-wining producer, composer and musician Emilio Estefan joins his wife Gloria Estefan in the Latin Songwriters Hall of Fame.

The induction will take place at the third annual star-studded La Musa Awards, which is slated to be held at The Filmore Miami Beach Jackie Gleason Theatre.

In a press release, the Latin Songwriters Hall of Fame said, “Emilio has been instrumental in shaping, developing and directing the careers of his superstar wife, Gloria as well as Shakira, Ricky Martin, Marc Anthony, Jon Secada, Alejandro Fernandez, Thalia, Carlos Vives, and Jennifer López, among many others. His ability to connect with their talent, expression and creativity has been vital in establishing a musical presence second to none.”

Emilio has written a plethora of chart-topping songs, which are known internationally, such as “Si Ya No Estas” for Ricky Martin, “Arrasando” for Thalia, “Da La Vuelta” performed by Marc Anthony, ”In My Pocket” for Mandy Moore and most recently he composed “Siempre” the Spanish adaptation of the renowned “Somewhere” from the West Side Story.

Other inductees include Chilean singer/songwriter Myriam Hernandez, Argentine composer/performer Gustavo Santaolalla, Argentine singer/songwriter Diego Torres, Colombian songwriter Hector Ochoa Cardenas and Salvadoran singer/songwriter Alvaro Torres.

The La Musa Awards will take place on Oct. 15.

Most recently, the couple debuted a musical based on their life. On Your Feet!, which is currently playing at the Oriental Theatre in Chicago through July 5, recounts the love story that unfolded between Emilio and Gloria. Through musical renditions, dancing and costumes, audience members see the couples’ true authentic Latin selves.

Fans of the couple can expect to hear tunes such as “Rhythm Is Gonna Get You,” “Conga,” “1-2-3,” “Get On Your Feet,” “Don’t Want To Lose You Now,” and “Coming Out Of The Dark,” as well as new music penned by the Estefans.
