Things To Do This Weekend in Miami: May 2nd

Another weekend has come to Miami, and with so much to do, sometimes you need a little help figuring out how to spend it. Check out these haute events for a weekend in the Magic City that’ll have you hoping your Saturday could last forever:

NOON, WYNWOOD: Wynwood Food Tour

Can’t decide where to have lunch? Have it all! Head to Miami’s hip Wynwood area this Saturday for delicious fare, interesting culture and a behind-the-scenes peek into Wynwood like you’ve never had before. Fusing art, culture and cuisine, this tour invites you to peruse local artists and dine your way through some of the Magic City’s most popular restaurants — including R House, Jimmy’z Kitchen Wynwood, The Butcher Shop, Wynwood Kitchen and Bar, Pride and Joy, Fireman Derek’s World Famous Pies, Coyo Taco, Babbo, Miam Wine, Zak The Baker and more — all of which can be found in Miami’s rapidly growing Wynwood Art District. Tickets to the event are $69 per person. Starting point disclosed when ticket is purchased.

5PM, SOUTH BEACH: Tongue & Cheek’s 2nd Annual Kentucky Derby Party

Just because you aren’t in Kentucky, it doesn’t mean you can’t celebrate the Derby in style. Head to South Beach staple Tongue & Cheek for a one-of-a-kind happy hour of themed fare: including Woodford Reserve Kentucky Coladas, Kaffir Lime Mint Juleps, Kentucky Hot Browns, Chocolate Chip Pecan Pie and more. Ladies, where your biggest hat, and men, dress as dapper as can be — “best dressed” winners will win a dinner for two during their next visit. Tongue & Cheek is located at 431 Washington Avenue.

6 PM, DESIGN DISTRICT: Ignite Entrepreneurship Launch Benefit

Taking place this Saturday in Miami Design District’s enchanting Palm Court, Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) — a leading non-profit organization that teaches at-risk children how to build an entrepreneurial mindset, and thus pave their way to success — will host its annual gala and fundraiser: the Ignite Entrepreneurship Launch Benefit. Amidst an idyllic backdrop of Miami’s stunning sunset, guests are invited to kick off the elegant evening with a “Spirited Startups Cocktail Reception,” where they will enjoy glasses overflowing with the region’s finest wines and handcrafted cocktails, live music and a silent auction with a chance to bid on an hour with two of Miami’s own entrepreneurial leaders, Venus Williams and Adrienne Bosh. The cocktail reception will run from 6 to 7 p.m., with the gala immediately following. Palm Court is located at 140 NE 39th Street. Tickets are $200 per person, with proceeds benefiting low-income youth and NTTE’s progressive approach to entrepreneurship education.

7 PM, DOWNTOWN: “Over The Rainbow: Where Dreams Come True” Gala

For a magical evening in Miami that invites you to be fancy for a cause, Communities In Schools of Miami (CIS of Miami) is back with its annual gala — specially themed “Over The Rainbow: Where Dreams Come True,” in honor of the 20,000 at-risk students who, because of CIS of Miami, are well on their way to a bright future. Taking place at the opulent Intercontinental Hotel Miami, this elegant evening will start with a sunset cocktail overlooking Biscayne Bay, where attendees can bid on luxury silent auction items like vacation packages, jewelry, restaurant gift certificates, spa treatments and more. And finally, the crème de la crème of an already elegant evening? A three-course dinner, with live music, in the Intercontinental Hotel’s beautiful Chopin Ballroom. This event will run from 7 to 11 p.m. at the Intercontinental Hotel Miami, at 100 Chopin Plaza. Tickets to the event are $200 per person, with proceeds directly benefitting CIS of Miami’s work with young students.
