NIKITA MALIBU HOSTS DINNER IN SUPPORT OF INTRODUCING CHINESE FUNDING TO HOLLYWOOD FOR COLLABORATIVE PROJECTS Chinese billionaire Dr. Jianxiang Shi, American billionaire Larry Ellison, philanthropist Nikita Kahn, Michael Jackson’s son Brandon Howard, and Chinese male supermodel Hu Bing were among the haute crowd that gathered at Nikita Malibu on Friday to celebrate China’s collaborative projects in Hollywood; Bing wore David Ellison’s new lanai collection to the fete.
UNICEF CELEBRATES DIA DE LOS MUERTOS On Oct. 30, Naya Rivera, Nikki Reed, Rosario Dawson, Diana Agron and Mario Lopez joined Veuve Clicquot to celebrate the UNICEF Dia de Los Muertos Black and White Masquerade Ball at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery. Arriving in festive Dia de los Muertos attire including flower crowns and brightly colored make-up, guests gathered at the iconic Hollywood Forever Cemetery to celebrate Dia de Los Muertos and support UNICEF. Guests sipped Veuve Clicquot paired with bites from some of the LA’s most beloved food trucks, while a mariachi band played in the background.

THE BROAD SETS OPENING DATE The Broad, the new contemporary art museum under construction on Grand Avenue in downtown Los Angeles, is set to open in fall 2015 with free general admission, offering local residents and visitors from around the world access to a renowned collection of more than 2,000 works of contemporary art set in a new architectural landmark designed by the acclaimed firm Diller Scofidio + Renfro. The Broad is the initiative of longtime art collectors and philanthropists Eli and Edythe Broad, who have been at the center of the civic and cultural development of downtown Los Angeles for more than three decades through Eli Broad’s leadership of and involvement in projects such as the Museum of Contemporary Art and Walt Disney Concert Hall. The couple have spent more than five decades assembling one of the world’s most admired collections of postwar and contemporary art, with the aim of creating a widely accessible public collection

BUTCHERS & BARBERS OPENS IN HOLLYWOOD The Houston Brothers—the team behind La Descarga, Pour Vous, Harvard & Stone, Good Times at Davey Wayne’s—have opened the Boardwalk Empire-esque new restaurant Butchers & Barbers on Hollywood Boulevard. The food is pure American bistro, while drinks will be prepared by Joe Swifka of ink. and Nate Oliver of The Vagrancy Project.
KATSUYA TO CREATE CRISTAL DINNER Katsuya is hosting the mother of all pairing dinners on Nov. 3. The Brentwood eatery is putting together a dinner called House of Cristal, a five-course dinner paired with champanges from Louis Roederer, which produces Cristal.
GJUSTA OPENS IN VENICE Gjelina’s highly anticipated bakery, Gjusta, has finally opened in Venice. The beautiful bakery will serve pastries, breads, sandwiches, cheeses and G&B coffee.

IRENE NEUWIRTH HOSTS OPENING CELEBRATION Jewelry designer Irene Neuwirth celebrated the opening of her first freestanding, flagship store on October 30th. Located in the heart of West Hollywood on Melrose Place, guests including Elizabeth Banks, Busy Philipps, Constance Zimmer, Judy Greer, Abigail Spencer, Gillian Jacobs, Jessica Capshaw, Zoe Lister Jones, Joanna Newsom, Kelly Oxford and Christa Miller, all in one-of-a-kind pieces by the designer, were treated to a tour of the unique space, which was designed in collaboration with Pam Shamshiri of renowned LA‐based design firm Commune. Guests then strolled down the street where to an outdoor space that was transformed into a garden oasis for the evening, perfectly complementing the store’s décor and design. The store, which officially opens Saturday, marks an important expansion for the brand and the first time Neuwirth’s vision is realized in one full brand experience. Neuwirth designed over 200 exclusive, one‐of‐a‐kind pieces for the store, which feature stones such as emerald, tanzanite, and pearls, which she has not previously used, in novel shapes and settings. 2014 has been a pivotal year for Neuwirth, having been honored earlier this year with the CFDA Swarosvki Award for Accessory Design.
DSQUARED2 CELEBRATES BEVERLY HILLS STORE OPENING WITH HAUTE SOIREE On October 28th, Dean and Dan Caten celebrated the opening of their first Dsquared2 boutique in the United States with a memorable event at a private residence in West Hollywood. The boutique, located on the famed shopping mecca Rodeo Drive, is the first of three to open in the US, with Miami opening in December followed by New York in January. Wearing Dsquared2, Alexander Ludwig, Dita von Teese, Emily Ratajkowski, Alison Brie, Ireland Baldwin, Jordana Brewster, Brad Goreski, Moran Atlas, Courtney Eaton and Hannah Simone helped the Caten brothers celebrate their momentous occasion.
SPANX’S FIRST CALIFORNIA STORE ARRIVES IN SANTA MONICA Every single woman who wears Spanx is going to be a very happy camper this weekend, as Spanx’s first stand-alone store in California is arriving at Santa Monica Place.
