Haute Event: Fashion for Three Square

Fashion for Three Square threw a party on May 8 to raise funds for Three Square’s Bag Childhood Hunger initiative. The event was hosted at the picturesque private residence of Diana Bennett of The Bennett Family Foundation and Three Square Food Bank’s board president.

The event celebrated the $1 million matching gift challenge, an effort joined together by Ms. Bennett and The Bennett Family Foundation along with Kris Engelstad McGarry and The Engelstad Family Foundation. By the conclusion of the event, $2,020,055 was raised for the Bag Childhood Hunger campaign, providing more than six million meals to hungry children in Southern Nevada.

As guests arrived to walk the floral carpet, they were treated to the unique sounds of musician Daniel Park who performed his own songs and covered popular favorites including “All of Me” by John Legend and “Radioactive” by Imagine Dragons.

Of the nearly 300 in attendance, noted guests included: Brian Ayala, Elizabeth Blau, Barbara Bell, Michael Brown, Denise Cashman, Tom Clearwater, Jeri Crawford, Julie Downs, Victor Drai, Abbie Friedman, Laura Gabel, Jody Ghanem, Jaswinder and Monica Grover, Izzy Haring, Hillary Heard, Laura Herlovich, Patrick and Supannika Hughes, Joe Jackson, Marianne Johnson, Annmarie Jones, Bart Jones, Steve Jones, Dan Juba, Elizabeth Kaplan, Rich and Claire MacDonald, Kay Maddox, Seth Makowsky, Robyn and Aldo Manzini, Scott Menke, Irma McDow, Susan Molasky, Brian and Angel Nettles, Ted and Maria Quirk, David and Mindy Rice, Sinni Richardson, Anita Romero, Amy Rossetti, Mario and Francine Sanchez, Michael Shulman, Linsey and Mike Slanker, Stan Tomchin, Carolynn and Jesika Towbin, Lynn and Bill Weidner, and Beni Velazquez.

Styled by Ken Downing, fashion director for Neiman Marcus, and inspired by feathered friends male and female models posed in vignettes with live birds throughout the residence, wearing some of the most beautiful spring and summer garments, shoes and accessories showcased at the luxury retailer.

Famed instrumental composer and performer William Joseph entertained guests with his chart-topping pop hits, many of which have been praised by music icons such as David Foster and Michael Bublé. The night concluded with a procession of 20 models who walked across the pool’s runway and served as the backdrop during remarks from event organizers.

Chair of Three Square’s Culinary Council Elizabeth Blau was instrumental in bringing together top Las Vegas-based culinary experts who provided guests with delicious fare, including Chefs Eric and Bruce Bromberg of Blue Ribbon Sushi Bar & Grill at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, Chef Kim Canteenwalla of Honey Salt, Chef Brett Ottolenghi of Artisanal Foods, Chef Eric Klein of Spago and Wolfgang Puck Fine Dining Group, Chef Megan Romano of Chocolate & Spice Bakery, Chefs Kristen LoVullo and Ashley Mastowski of Gimme Some Sugar, and coffee connoisseur Robert Rueter of Espresso Amore.

Produced by David Steen, the event was completely underwritten by The Bennett Family Foundation. Décor elements were provided by Destinations by Design, and Foxtail Floral provided arrangements featuring roses, peonies and a vibrant assortment of orchids and tulips in hues of pink, orange and green. DJ Comfort Jones provided musical entertainment, with audio and visual provided by Sage Tech.

As guests departed for the evening, they were given Neiman Marcus eco-friendly bags complete with confectionary mementos from Chocolate & Spice and Gimme Some Sugar.

The Bag Childhood Hunger campaign continues through May 16 to raise awareness and funds for Three Square’s childhood hunger programs including BackPack for Kids, Summer Food Service Program, Kids Cafe® and the FaVE! Program. More than 130,000 children in Southern Nevada are food-insecure and don’t always know where their next meal is coming from.
