11 UConn Students Win $60,000 Betting on the Huskies

Eleven graduates of University of Connecticut stopped by Hard Rock Hotel to pick up their winnings — a total of $60,000 on Saturday.

Tom Andreoli, Patrick Charmel, Paul Delvecchio, Chris Demattie, Marc Demattie, Dave Faenza, Ferid “Frank” Feratovic, Harrison Fuchs, John Mitkevicius, Michael Price, Dan Stewart and Andrew Zielinski each placed a $100 bet at Hard Rock Hotel’s Race & Sports Book powered by CG Technology on their school to win the men’s college basketball tournament earlier this year. The team had 50 to 1 odds of winning at the time the bets were placed, so each ticketholder collected $5,000. After picking up their winnings, the boys decided to place another bet on UConn to win the men’s basketball tournament next year. All but Chris were present during the trip.

Following, the group dined at Pink Taco for lunch. They toasted to a successful bet and started their Memorial Day weekend celebrations in Las Vegas with a shot of tequila.
