Founded in 1985, Chicago House is the first organization in the Midwest to provide housing for people with HIV and AIDS. Since 2009 the organization has hosted an Annual Speaker Series Luncheon, at the inaugural event Bill Clinton served as the keynote speaker. Now the luncheon has come full circle as far as keynote speakers and for the 5th Annual Speaker Series Luncheon on Wednesday, September 18th from 11:30AM-2PM former U.S. Senator from New York and Secretary of State The Honorable Hillary Clinton will take on that role, alongside remarks by Chicago House CEO Stan Sloan. Clinton follows not only her husband as keynote speaker, but other great minds have made remarks at the Chicago House Speaker Series in past years as well including former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, Whoopi Goldberg and designer Kenneth Cole. This highly anticipated event is the organization’s biggest fundraiser and promises to be inspirational.
The luncheon helps to bring awareness to issues of domestic and global HIV and AIDS activism and highlights all the great things Chicago House achieve locally. The funds raised from the event will help support the over 1,500 men, women, and children they serve. They provide (without discrimination) permanent, community-based housing, support services and prevention outreach to individuals and families struggling with HIV and AIDs, who may also be affected by other hardships as well, including homelessness and mental illness. This luncheon is a chance to help them continue to provide these amazing services. Every year the luncheon has been more of a help to the organization and Chicago House is pleasantly surprised at its growth.
“Five years ago, when the Speaker Series concept was just a dream, we never imagined it could become such a highly regarded fundraising vehicle,” said Jeremy Hilborn, Chicago House’s Director of Individual Giving and Special Events. “Our staff and board continue to work so hard to shed light on issues that are important to Chicago House and our own community, all alongside the inspirational words of amazing and respected leaders. We are proud to welcome Secretary Clinton to celebrate the fifth anniversary of this inspirational event.”
The event will be held at the Chicago Hilton (720 South Michigan). For more information on tickets or hosting a table contact Beth Connor at 773-248-5200 (ext.303) or visit www.chicagohouse.org.
