Talk about fashion royalty. Christie’s shared this casual portrait of designer Yves Saint-Laurent, shot by none other than Andy Warhol. The link between these two pop culture icons goes back to the 1970s and encapsulates a number of works.

A few years ago a 1974 series of Saint Laurent portraits by Warhol was set to be included in a retrospective at Paris’ Grand Palais. However, the late designer’s partner Pierre Bergé withdrew Yves Saint Laurent’s portraits when he discovered they would be placed in a section of the retrospective titled Glamor (where the portraits of several other prominent fashion designers like Giorgio Armani were hung), rather than being placed in the section titled Artists.
