Haute 100 New York Update: Jay-Z Launches Sports Agency
Jay-Z is adding a new job title to his resume! The hip-hop artist and entrepreneur became a sports agent this week, kicking off his latest venture with a premiere client — New York Yankees star Robinson Cano.
Jay-Z recently launched his own sports management company, Roc Nation Sports, that will partner with another leading agency, Creative Artists, to represent the famed ballplayer. “Because of my love of sports, it was a natural progression to form a company where we can help top athletes… the same way we have been helping artists in the music industry for years,” he said in a statement.
But before Jay-Z can become a legitimate sports agent, he must sell his less-than-one perent ownership of the Brooklyn Nets as no one representing an NBA player can have ties with an NBA team.
