Filini Goes Extra Green For Earth Day
Earth Day is fast approaching and to some it doesn’t mean much. There may be a couple places that choose this day to pretend like they care about the environment, but I know of one place that shows it everyday, Filini Bar & Restaurant (221 North Columbus). Located within the acclaimed Radisson Blu Aqua, which was designed under strict LEED guidelines and has applied for the certification, Filini is an eco-friendly restaurant that adheres to the highest green and sustainable standards. On Monday, April 22, they will be celebrating Earth day with a 5-course menu showcasing locally grown produce, humanely raised meats and sustainable seafood. They are taking it even further by making it a candle-lit dinner in an effort to conserve energy. The dinner is priced at $65 per person ($80 w/ wine pairing), with 10 percent of the day’s earnings will be donated to The Plant, which is an indoor vertical farm that promotes closed-loop food production and sustainable economic development through education and research. To contact Filini for more info or reservations, call 312-477-0234. The dinner will feature the following courses:
Vegetable Garden
Baby Vegetables, Ricotta, Hazelnut
Ravioli
Heirloom Potato, Mushrooms, jus
Striped Bass
Peas, Onion, Red Wine
Pork Loin
Bacon, Root Vegetables, Carrot
Strawberry Terrine
Cream, Rhubarb, Beets
