Andrea Bocelli Gives Surprise Easter Mass Performance On Miami Beach
Italian tenor, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Andrea Bocelli, made an unannounced appearance at Easter Sunday Mass at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Miami Beach. He surprised everyone in attendance when he got up during communion and asked if he could sing. “He did sing during communion…it was unexpected,” said Mary Ross Agusta, Archdiocese spokeswoman. “Andrea Bocelli was attending the Mass and asked just before if he could sing. He sang Panis Angelicus.”
It must have truly been an unforgettable experience for everyone who attended St. Patrick’s on Sunday. Bocelli, who is is the greatest-selling classical artist of all time, was said to have the voice of an angel during the service. Hopefully we will be seeing more of Bocelli; he recently told talk show host and author Tavis Smiley that he purchased a home in Florida, but kept the city disclosed. “Florida is closer to Italy,” he said of his decision.
