Haute 100 New York Update: Alicia Keys Opens Up About Her Marriage to Swizz Beatz
Fourteen-time Grammy-award winning singer-songwriter Alicia Keys recently appeared on the second season of “Oprah’s Master Class” and couldn’t keep from smiling when asked about her husband of nearly three years, Swizz Beatz.
“I really learned what everyone meant when they said, ‘you know when you know,’ when I met my husband,” she explained on the show, which aired March 3. “He’s definitely taught me a lot about freedom and a lot about spontaneity and about being open to life and how it’s going to happen.”
Describing her husband as “an incredibly crazy, spontaneous, full of life person,” Keys said that Beatz has also inspired her to become more of the moment. “Before I was always kind of regimented about how everything had to happen, I had to plan it out all perfect but that’s not quite life,” she explained. “That’s part of life, don’t get it wrong, you have to plan things and execute them but there’s also another part of life that’s very spontaneous, that’s very natural and it kind of unfolds and it happens to you.”
