The WWE is recognizing Donald Trump’s longstanding support and involvement with the organization by inducting him into the Hall of Fame at Madison Square Garden on April 6.
“Donald is a global icon whose status brought an unmatched level of publicity and grandeur to WWE,” WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon told WWE.com.
The Apprentice star has been a prominent figure in WWE since 1988 when Trump Plaza hosted WrestleMania IV. But Trump hasn’t simply offered his support from the sidelines — he’s also been a participant. During WrestleMania 23, Trump took on took on McMahon in the “Battle of the Billionaires,” in which the two bet their hair on the winner of a featured match. A record number of viewers tuned in to see Trump’s Bobby Lashley defeat McMahon’s Umaga — and then watch McMahon have his head shaved in front of 80,000 fans.
