First Annual Chicago Theatre Week

Chicago Theatre Week

Clothing enthusiasts love Fashion Week, foodies love Restaurant Week, and now there’s a week for lovers of the stage, Chicago Theatre Week. Choose Chicago and The League of Chicago Theatres have partnered up to present the first annual Chicago Theatre Week. This should come as no surprise, and is actually long overdue, considering the fact that Chicago has a world-class stage culture (whether comedy, plays, dance, or Blue Man) and is widely regarded as THE place for theatre.

Starting tomorrow (February 12, 2013) until February 17, 2013, visitors and citizens of Chicago are invited to delight in the live shows the week will offer. There are over 75 productions that will be participating and each show will cost $15 or $30 dollars. Participating theatres include Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, The Second City, Steppenwolf, Emerald City Theatre, Goodman Theatre and many more. These are some top-notch places and during the course of the week some of them will be holding special events, including talkbacks with the artists. This is truly an extraordinary beginning to what I hope will become a huge tradition. This week has a lot of the biggest shows and theatres involved, and it’s only year one, imagine what the future holds. All tickets can be found at www.chicagotheatreweek.com.
