Third Annual Pointe of Departure Art Exhibition and Sale

Earlier this week I wrote about the Joffrey Ballet’s Spring Gala presented by The Women’s Board of The Joffrey Ballet. Well, that’s all the way in April and I know there are people who would like to be informed of things happening a little sooner. For the impatient lover of all things Joffrey, The Joffrey Auxiliary Board presents the Third Annual Pointe Of Departure Art Exhibition and Sale.

This event is for all the lovers of dance, especially Joffrey Ballet. It’s a collision of the stage and canvas, a chance to take a piece of the moment home with you. The artists will be showing work that is inspired by the movement of dance and Joffrey’s Winter Program, “America’s Legends.” Jerome Robbins, Twyla Tharp, Gerald Arpino and Stanton Welch have created everywhere from contemporary to classic pieces,  which will be available for sale to benefit Joffrey Ballet.

Along with the original works of art being for sale, there will also be a silent auction, you can meet the artists and enjoy a cocktail and hors d’oeuvres reception. Tickets for the Pointe of Departure are $75 per person. It will be held on the third floor of Block 37 (108 North State Street) Thursday, February 7, 2013 at 6pm.
