Bette Midler is Coming Back to Broadway After 30 Years
Bette Midler is returning to the stage for the first time in 30 years! The 67-year-old Grammy, Tony and Golden Globe winner will star in John Logan‘s new play “I’ll Eat You Last: A Chat With Sue Mengers.”
Midler will play the legendary power-agent Sue Mengers in the one-character play. Logan, who won a Tony award for “Red” and penned the screenplay of the James Bond movie “Skyfall,” told The New York Times that he envisioned Midler when he wrote the play. “She’s a proper stage animal,” he explained. “In a one-person show in particular, you need someone who can hold an audience, who connects with an audience in a really deeply visceral way, and that’s Bette through and through.”
The show opens April 24 at a Shubert theatre to be announced later.
