The Peninsula Debuts Chicago’s Only Hotel Skating Rink

There’s no shortage of amenities at Chicago’s five star hotels, they make sure you have everything you could possibly want during your stay. The Peninsula has decided to up the ante and give their guests one more reason to stay there. This past Friday, The Peninsula Chicago announced the debut of their inaugural skating rink.

What’s being billed as the only hotel skating rink in the city, is a 2,100 square foot hybrid rink that sits four stories above Michigan Avenue, adjacent to Shanghai Terrace. The rink offers amazing views of the famous John Hancock Building and the Magnificent Mile. What better way to enjoy a winter day than on a skating rink that’s surrounded by the incomparable Chicago skyline and tucked into a pine tree winter wonderland, while listening to festive music. And if you get a little hungry, the skating rink’s outdoor menu features Warm Pretzels and Spiced Nuts, Hot Chocolate and Cider, as well as Gluhwein (a German warm spiced wine).

The skating rink will be open daily through March 3, 2013 and is available to all hotel, restaurant (Shanghai Terrace and The Lobby) and spa guests. Personal skates are not permitted, but skates are included as part of the daily fee ($5 for children, $10 for adults). While the fee is nominal, it will be put to good use, 100% of the fees will be donated to The Ann & Robert Lurie Hospital and the Hephzibah Children’s Hospital. Both are incredible children charities that do outstanding work. For hours or more information you can visit www.peninsula.com/chicago or call 312-337-2888.
