Shia LeBeouf to Make Broadway Debut Opposite Alec Baldwin in ‘Orphans’

In April, Transformers star Shia LeBeouf will make his Broadway debut opposite 30 Rock star Alec Baldwin in a revival of Lyle Kessler’s ‘Orphans’, the story of two orphaned brothers living in a broken-down North Philadelphia row house.

Directed by Tony-winner Daniel Sullivan, the Broadway play will feature LeBeouf, 26, as Treat, the eldest of two brothers, who “supports his damaged younger sibling by petty thievery, and makes the house a virtual prison for the seemingly simple-minded Philip”, according to Broadway.com. Baldwin will play Harold, a rich older man that Treat kidnaps one night who becomes a “father figure” to the boys. The actor who will play Philip has not yet been announced.

Performances are set to begin on March 19, 2013 with opening night set for April 7. 

‘Orphans’ was first presented in New York in May 1985 staring Kevin Anderson and Terry Kinney and Fraiser’s John Mahoney as Harold.
