Kenneth Chenault, the chairman and CEO of American Express, was recently contacted by the White House about replacing Treasury Secretary Timothy F. Geithner, reports Bloomberg.
The 61-year-old is currently one of the world’s most-high-powered executives, and one of the few black leaders running a Fortune 100 company. At the end of 2012’s third quarter, American Express reported $7.9 billion in revenues and a net income $1.3 billion.
Chenault is also a big Obama supporter and has advised the president on various economic issues. He’s donated nearly $140,000 to Democrats since 1989.
