Waldorf Astoria Chicago Voted #1 in Travel + Leisure
In Chicago’s Gold Coast there sits a plethora of high quality hotel choices. One of the best of the best is the Waldorf Astoria (11 E. Walton Place). Just the name itself evokes elegance and sophistication. The Hilton bought the Elysian hotel, a five-diamond establishment that was recently ranked number 1 in the country by readers of Conde Nast Traveler, last year and put it under their Waldorf Astoria line of hotels. Although the name has changed, the hotel hasn’t lost any of its extraordinary quality. It was just ranked #1 large city hotel in the Continental U.S. in the Travel + Leisure 2012 World’s Best Awards readers’ survey.
The Waldorf Astoria is a thorn in the side of the other luxury hotels like, ahem….Trump. Their spa has 10 treatment rooms where you can get total body pampering, manicures, pedicures, massages and they even have a barbershop in the men’s locker room. It’s an unbelievable experience. They have a speak-easy style lounge, Bernard’s, where you can grab a quick drink. Another place you can head to is Balsan, which is a simple yet amazing eatery where you can grab a small bite to eat. Or you can dine at their two Michelin Star restaurant, Ria, where making a reservation two weeks in advance is strongly recommended.
