Haute Real Estate: Lincoln Park Stunner Hits Market

There’s a Lincoln Park neighborhood that has been getting a major makeover, and one of the newly listed houses will blow you away. Starting at the front of the house is a sunken garden near the sidewalk that gives way to the vertical masterpiece that is this four-story (including basement) gem. The house is composed of brick and limestone and with dormered windows that are classically trimmed. The outside has a lot of eye-catching features, but the inside is where you really fall in love.

At the very top of the house is a lozenge-shaped skylight that helps the light reach all three main stories of the house and the basement. The skylight is directly above the amazing stairwell that is, without a doubt, the centerpiece of the house. The stairs are unbelievably well done; they wind in the lozenge-shape of the skylight all the way down to the bottom. On the second floor the stairs widen and allows you to overlook the two-story dining room. Yes, I said two-story dining room.

Owner Andy Bowyer (his company Middlefork Development built the house) stressed the importance of the stairs being so detailed, he feels “in the city, you’re going to be living vertically anyway, so you might as well dress up the stairs.” (Rodkin/Deal Estate) Bowyer also refers to the widened area that overlooks the dining room as an “opera balcony.”

There is so much more to this house than the stairs, it has a beautiful kitchen with a large island and bluestone countertops. There’s also a couple refrigerators tucked away in what looks like a piece of furniture. There’s separate entertaining kitchen right off the family room. The top floor has three bedrooms; two are on the sides of an open-air terrace and one in the front. The master suite has a walk-in dressing room and a private balcony. There is also room to the front of the suite that can be used as a nursery or whatever you decide to turn it into, it has its own bedroom.

There is so much to this luxurious house. It’s beautiful in everyway imaginable. The two houses next it have sold for more than $4 million, so it’s almost a bargain that this property is listed for $3.35 million.
