California-based boutique grocery store Trader Joe’s has been in the Palm Beach news lately as locals hope for a deal that would bring the store to the PGA Plaza.

Reportedly in the works for a few years already Palm Beach Gardens officials are remaining silent on the matter. Natalie Crowley, director of planning and zoning for the city of Palm Beach Gardens, previously mentioned Trader Joe’s potential opening in the PGA Plaza, but she has not said anything about it lately and a Trader Joe’s spokeswoman, said, “At this time, it is not in our two-year plan to open in Palm Beach.” However, Menin Development, which owns the PGA Plaza, has requested permissions to do work at the plaza, but Robert Jacoby, chief operating officer of Menin Development, declined to comment.

Despite the silence from officials, some sources are indicating the deal is likely to go through at some point, but it could still take a few years.

Trader Joe’s opened its first store in Florida in February in Naples. A second store in Sarasota is planned for September and a third will open in Gainesville in November.
