Haute Event: The Sanctuary Hotel Hosts Avone Art Show Opening Party

On Thursday May 31, The Sanctuary Hotel owners Hank and Brandon Freid hosted a special opening reception for New York based graffiti artist Avone, showcasing nine of his works inside the Midtown luxury boutique hotel.

Over 100 guests turned out to the unveiling party curated by Caroline Aim of Raawart, including BOMB Magazine’s Michele Gerber Klein, Tracy Stern, author Harper Dimmerman, artist Jenna Lash, Michelle Javian and Drew Grant.  Brooklyn graffiti artist Avone’s eye-catching photorealistic art will be on display at the hotel throughout the summer.

Guests had the chance to take a first look at Avone’s art pieces which use a combination of  techniques such as silkscreen, paint, markers, spray cans, collaging and oxidation. Avone says his work is influenced by Hip-Hop music, New York City, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Vincent Van Gogh, Fashion, Robert Rauschenberg, Kehinde Wiley, Andy Warhol, Romare Bearden, GANO and TMNK.

Party-goers were also treated to cocktails by Double Cross Vodka and got a sneak peak of The Sanctuary Hotel’s rooftop lounge Haven, which will be opening to the public this June.

Avone’s works will be on display at The Sanctuary Hotel through the summer.
